The Coinage of Twenty Rupees and Five Rupees Coins to Commemorate the Occasion of "Acharya Tulsi Birth Centenary" Rules, 2013

G.S.R. 782 (E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (d) and clause (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely :-

1. Short title and commencement. - (1) These rules may be called "The Coinage of Twenty Rupees and Five Rupees Coins to Commemorate the Occasion of "Acharya Tulsi Birth Centenary" Rules, 2013.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. (1) The coins of the following denominations shall be coined at the mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of "Acharya Tulsi Birth Centenary", namely:-

(i) Twenty Rupees;

(ii) Five Rupees.

(2) The coins of the above denominations shall conform to the following dimensions, designs and composition, namely:-

Design

1. Twenty Rupees

Obverse

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend ^^lR;eso t;rs** inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word ^^Hkkjr** in Devnagri script and on the right periphery flanked with the word "India" in English. It shall also bear the rupee symbol "र" and denominational value "20" in International numerals below the Lion Capital.

Reverse

The face of the coin shall bear the picture of "Acharya Tulsi" in the centre, with inscription ^^vkpk;Z rqylh tUe 'krkCnh** in Devnagri script on the left upper periphery and "Acharya Tulsi Birth Centenary" in English on lower periphery. The year "1914-2013" shall be inscribed below the picture of "Acharya Tulsi".

2. Five Rupees

Obverse

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend ^^lR;eso t;rs** inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word ^^Hkkjr** in Devnagri script and on the right periphery flanked with the word "India" in English. It shall also bear the rupee symbol "र" and denominational value "5" in International numerals below the Lion Capital.

Reverse

The face of the coin shall bear the picture of "Acharya Tulsi" in the centre, with the inscription ^^vkpk;Z rqylh tUe 'krkCnh** in Devnagri script on upper periphery and "Acharya Tulsi Birth Centenary" in English on lower periphery. The year "1914-2013" shall be inscribed below the picture of "Acharya Tulsi".

3. Standard weight and remedy allowed. - The standard weight of the coins of the following denominations, coined to commemorate the occasion of "Acharya Tulsi Birth Centenary" and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the following Table below:-

1/500th plus or minus for Silver, that is to say the Silver content may vary from 498 to 502 per 1000.

1/100th plus or minus that is to say, the weight could vary form 29.7 gram to 30.3 grams.

Five Rupees

6 grams

1/100th plus or minus for Copper and Zinc, that is to say, Copper could vary from 74 per cent to 76 per cent and Zinc from 19 per cent to 21 per cent and 1/200th plus or minus for Nickel that is to say Nickel could vary from 4.5 per cent to 5.5 per cent

1/40th plus or minus that is to say, the weight could vary from 5.85 grams to 6.15 grams
