An Act further to amend the Uttar Pradesh Co-operative Societies Act, 1965. It is hereby enacted in the Fifty-third Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title and commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Act, 2002. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on July 4, 2002.

|Statement of Objects and Reasons. - Sub-section (2) of Section 29 of the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Societies Act, 1965 (U.P. Act 11 of 1966) provided for the term of the Managing Committee of a Co-operative Society to be three years. After considering the demands from various quarters for raising the term of such Managing Committee, it was decided to amend the said Act to raise the term of such a Managing Committee to five years. Since the State Legislature was not in session and immediate legislative action was necessary to implement the aforesaid decision, the Uttar Pradesh Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Ordinance, 2002 (U.P. Ordinance 10 of 2002) was promulgated by the Governor on July 4, 2002. This Bill is introduced to replace the aforesaid Ordinance.|
