Notification No. F 2-71/2004/20 dated the 1st September, 2005. - The State Government hereby makes the following rules to prescribe the procedure for selection of eligible persons for State Level and District Level award with the objective of rewarding achievement and long commitment to teaching and education, namely : -
1. Short name and coming into force. - These rules shall be known as Shiksha Samman Puraskar Niyam, 2005. They shall come into force in the entire State of Chhattisgarh immediately.
2. The award. - The State Government has instituted two types of award for excellent work in the field of teaching and education : -
2.1 State level awards. - Four State level awards have been instituted. Each State level award shall be of Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand only). State level awards shall be the following : -
(A) Dr. Padumlal Punnalal Baxi memorial award
(B) Dr. Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh memorial award
(C) Dr. Mukutdhar Pandey memorial award
(D) Dr. Baldev Prasad Mishra memorial award
2.2. District level awards. - There shall be a district level award for each education district. Each district level award shall be of Rs. 11,000/- (Rupees eleven thousand only).
3. Jury. - There shall be a jury for selection of persons eligible for the awards. The membership of the Jury shall be as follows : -

4. Procedure of Selection. - The procedure of selection for persons eligible for awards shall be as follows : -
4.1 The norms of selection and format of the entry form shall be decided by the Director Public Instructions.
4.2 Director Public Instructions shall invite entries through an advertisement in main state level newspapers.
4.3 Entries shall be submitted to the District Education Officer of the concerned district.
4.4 District Education Officers shall forward the entries to the Director Public Instructions after examining them.
4.5 Director Public Instructions shall after examination submit the entries for decision regarding awards to the jury.
4.6 Jury shall select the persons eligible for awards after considering the entries by the Director Public Instructions.
4.7 The decision of the Jury shall be final.
5. Award Ceremony. - Awards shall be given every year in award ceremonies. Separate Ceremonies may be organised to give state level and district level awards.
6. Amendment in the Rules. - The State Government may amend these rules from time to time by a notification /published in the official gazette.
