The Land Acquisition Punjab Second Amendment Act, 1956
Punjab Act 47 of 1956
Object & Reasons6
|Statement of Objects and Reasons. - Section 17 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, prescribes the procedure to be followed for taking immediate possession of land before the award is announced in case of urgency and for other purposes specified therein. This section, as amended by Punjab Act II of 1954, however, does not cover all the public purposes of importance for which possession of land may be required immediately by a Welfare State. To meet such cases the Act in question has been amended through the Land Acquisition (Punjab Amendment) Ordinance, 1956 (Punjab Ordinance No. 4 of 1956). The Bill is designed to replace the said Ordinance. Published vide Punjab Government Gazette Extraordinary, 1956, page 1090.|
