The Madhya Pradesh Service of Summons Rules, 1994

(i) "Court" means a Criminal Court constituted under Section 6 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (No. 2 of 1974);
(ii) "Process Server" means a person appointed as process server under the Civil Court Rules, 1961;
(iii) "Public Servant" shall have the same meaning as is assigned to that expression in the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (No 45 of 1860) and includes process server.3. Service of Summons. - Every summons issued by a Court shall be served by a Police Officer or by an Officer of the Court or other public servant to be named specifically by the Court issuing such summons.
