The Dentists (Orissa Amendment) Act, 1972
Orissa Act No. 20 of 1972
Object & Reasons6
|Statement of Objects and Reasons. - In pursuance of Section 32 of the Dentists Act, 1948, the State Government appointed the 30th August, 1949, as the date for receiving application for registration of dentists. As the number of dentists who applied for registration was less than the number of seats allotted to the registered dentists in the State Dental Council, the last date for submission of application had to be extended and further registration made. But it was later found that since such an extension was not strictly within the powers of Government the extension so granted as well as the registration made in pursuance thereof are likely to be held invalid. It is, therefore, necessary to amend the Act to invest the Government with powers to extend the time allowed for making applications and to make provisions for validating the registration of dentists. The Bill seeks to achieve the above object.|
(a) all registrations of dentists made in pursuance of applications for registration received on or before the 31st March, 1962; and
(b) the register of dentists first prepared and published on the 19th day of September, 1963,shall be deemed to have been validly made, prepared and published under the principal Act as amended by this Act.
