The Punjab Employment of Children in Workshops (Schedules Processes) Rules, 1952

Labour and Printing Department.No. 2894-LP-52/1708. - With reference to the Punjab Government notification No. 1042-LP-52/550, dated the 13th February 1952, and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 of the Employment of Children Act, 1938 (XXVI of 1938), the following rules are made for carrying into effect the provisions of the said Act: 1. Short title. - These rules may be called the Punjab Employment of Children in Workshops (Scheduled Processes) Rules, 1952. 2. An Inspector may, within the local limits for which he is appointed, apply for any information from the occupier of any workshop wherein persons are employed in any of the processes set forth in the schedule to the Act, or any premises which the may suspect to be such a workshop, and may take on the spot or otherwise such evidence of any persons and exercise such other powers of inspections, as he may deem necessary, for enforcing the provisions of the Act. 3. On receiving a notice under section 3B of the Act, the Inspector shall, unless it appears to him that the premises do not constitute a workshop, enter the workshop in the register of workshops, in Form A appended to these rules, maintained by him for the purpose. 4. Any Civil Surgeon, and/or Assistant Surgeon, Class I (Gazetted) in all districts shall be competent to grant and issue certificates of age in respect of a child in employment or seeking employment in such workshops. 5. A certificate of age granted under Rule 4 shall be in form B appended to these rules. 6. The fee for the grant of each certificate or a duplicate copy thereof shall be eight annas only unless accompanied by other satisfactory evidence of his age, in which case no fee shall be charged.
