Received the assent of the Governor of Punjab on the 20th April, 1966 and was first published for general information in the Punjab Government Gazette (Extraordinary), dated the 22nd April, 1966.
An Act to validate the act of providing at Simla during the summer season of the year 1964 a residential house free of charge to persons holding in the State of Punjab the office of a Minister, the Chairman of the Punjab Legislative Council or the Speaker of the Punjab Legislature Assembly.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Seventeenth Year of the Republic of India as follows :-
1. Short title. - This Act may be called the Punjab Salaries and Allowances (Validation) Act, 1966.
2. Validation. - The act of providing at Simla during summer season of the year 1964 a residential house free of charge to any person holding in the State of Punjab the office of a Minister, the Chairman of the Punjab Legislative Council or the Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly is hereby validated and shall not be called in question on the ground that no provision exists for such purposes in the relevant laws determining their salaries and allowances, namely :-
(1) The East Punjab Ministers' Salaries Act, 1947;
(2) The Punjab Legislative Council Chairman's and Deputy Chairman's Salaries and Allowances Act, 1952; and
(3) The Punjab Legislative Assembly Speaker's and Deputy Speaker's Salaries Act, 1937.
