(a) to constitute and maintain a Police Band in all the units;
(b) to prescribe hiring out and transportations charges, payable by the hirer;
(c) to provide for allowances and incentives to the band personnel.4. Constitution of the Band. - (1) A Police Band consisting of Brass or Pipe shall be maintained at the headquarters of (a) each district (b) each R. A. C. Battalion (c) Mewar Bhil Corps (d) R. P. A. Jaipur (e) any other unit approved by the Government. The personnel shall form part of the Armed Police Strength of the unit. (2) The senior most Head Constable in the Brass Band and the pipe Band shall be designated as Band Major and Pipe Major respectively. (3) Buglars will not form part of the Band. 5. Strength of the Band. - (1) A half band shall be maintained at the headquarters of district Banswara, Banner, Bundi, Chum, Dun-garpur, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Sikar, Sirohi, Sawai, Madhopur and Tonk: Provided that full band may also be maintained in these units if the need is felt and the resources so permit. (2) A 'full Band' shall be maintained by all other units. 6. Hiring out of Police Band - The Police Band may be given on hire for any private function at the discretion of the Officer- in-charge of the band. The Officer-in charge of the Police Band may cancel reservation made of the Police Band in the case of any person, if the Police Band is required for any function approved by the Government but in such case timely information shall be given to the person hiring the Band as far as practicable. 7. Hiring and Transportation charges for Police Band. - (1) The Officer-in-charge of the Band shall recover in advance hiring charges for Police Band at the rates prescribed by the Government from time to time: Provided that the Officer-in-charge of the band with the prior approval of the D. I. G. P. concerned, may reduce these rates for the whole district or for any particular area, if the local circumstances so warrant. (2) When a Band is taken outside the district headquarters the hiring charges will be raised by 50% more than the rates fixed in sub rule (1) for a day of 6 hours which shall include the time taken by the band in journey to and from the place where it was required. For each additional hour, the hiring charges will be at the rate of Rs. 100/-. (3) No charges shall be levied for State Functions or where in public interest the officer-in-charge of the band feels that no charges should be levied. 8. Concessional Rates. - if any employee of the Police Department wants to hire the Band for his own marriage or for that of his children, hiring charges at half the rates of those mentioned in rule 7 shall be levied. 9. Transportation Charges. - A fixed transportation charges of Rs. 100/- shall be recovered in advance from the hirers: Provided that the officer-in-charge of the Band, with the prior approval of the D. I. G. P. concerned, may reduce the fixed transportation charges, if the local circumstances so warrant. If the Band is taken outside the city limits of the unit headquarters, the hirer shall make his own arrangements for transporting the band personnel from and to the headquarters of the unit. 10. Income from the hiring of the Police Band. - All income derived from hiring out of the Police Band shall be credited to the Rajasthan Police Band Fund immediately on receipt by the officer-in-charge of the band and disbursement therefrom shall be made strictly in accordance with these rules and the Rules governing the Rajasthan Police Band Fund. 11. Uniform of the Band Personnel. - The personnel of the Police Band shall normally wear prescribed Police Uniform and on ceremonial and festival occasions they may wear civilian prescribed uniform. 12. Allowance to Band Personnel. - The personnel of the Brass and Pipe Band will be granted allowance per month in addition to their salary at the rates fixed by the Government from time to time. 13. Performance of duty by Band Men. - The personnel of Police Band shall be required to perform their normal duties on their turn and will not be exempted therefrom because of their participation in the Police Band.
