|Statement of Objects and Reasons. - The Government of Rajasthan have decided to rename "Rajasthan Canal" as "Indira Gandhi Canal" in the memory of Late Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi, and to make necessary amendments by substituting the expression "Indira Gandhi Canal" for the expression "Rajasthan Canal" wherever and in whatever manner used, in all laws, rules, regulations, bye laws, orders, notifications and statements of conditions for the time being in force and intended that it be read and construed accordingly in ail instruments, agreements, contracts, indentures, sanads, lease-deeds, all other documents and proceedings. Since the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly was not in session and the matter was urgent and of public importance, the Governor promulgated the Rajasthan Canal (Substitution of Name) Ordinance, 1984 on the 9th day of November, 1984. This bill seeks to replace the said Ordinance and to achieve the said objects,|
(i) substituted in all laws, rules, regulations, bye-laws, orders, notifications and statements of conditions for the time being in force; and
(ii) read and construed accordingly in all instruments, agreements, contracts, indentures, sanads, lease-deeds, all other documents and pending proceedings.3. Repeal and Savings. - (1) The Rajasthan Canal (Substitution of Name) Ordinance, 1984 (Ordinance No. 11 of 1984) is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, all things done or actions taken under the said Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under this Act. (3) Nothing in this Act shall affect the liabilities incurred, duties performed, obligations created, titles conferred, rights accrued, actions taken, functions performed, appointments made, or tax or fee levied or realised by any person or authority in respect of matters relating to Rajasthan Canal because of the substitution of its name.
