The Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) Weekly Holiday (Substitution of Sunday for Friday) Act, 1950 in force in the combined State, as on 02.06.2014, has been adapted to the State of Telangana, under section 101 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 (Central Act 6 of 2014) vide. the Telangana Adaptation of Laws (No.2) Order, 2016, issued in G.O.Ms.No.46, Law (F) Department, dated 01.06.2016.
1. Short title and commencement. - (1) This Act may be called [the Telangana Weekly Holiday (Substitution of Sunday for Friday) Act, 1950.]
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force from the 26th January, 1950.
2. Construction of references to Friday in provision relating to a weekly holiday. - Every provision of law for the time being in force in [the State of Telangana] which provides for or relates to the observance of Friday as a Weekly Holiday for any purpose whatsoever shall have effect as if all references therein to Friday were reference to Sunday.
3. Construction of references to Thursday in provisions defining or referring to a week. - Every provision of law for the time being in force in [the State of Telangana] which defines or refers to a week as the period of seven days beginning with midnight on Thursday night shall have effect as if all references therein to Thursday were references to Saturday.
